Lebanon police charged a Norene man with kidnapping his girlfriend early Friday morning.
Edgar Eugene Bennett III, 39, was charged with kidnapping, domestic assault, aggravated assault and vandalism. He was booked in at Wilson County Jail at about 11:30 a.m. on $125,000 bond and remained there Friday night.
Lebanon police Chief Scott Bowen said the charges stemmed from a domestic-related altercation between Bennett and his girlfriend that started at a bar on Sparta Pike. Police responded to the intersection of Sparta Pike and Briskin Lane at about 3 a.m. and began to search for Bennett and his girlfriend.
He was found later Friday morning. Bowen said the victim didn’t suffer any serious injuries.
Bowen said more details would be released Monday morning. A Nov. 5 court date was set for Bennett.
