Lebanon police remained on the hunt Monday for a suspect involved in an armed robbery and shooting at a convenience store Friday.
Officers responded to an armed robbery and shooting call at about 5:15 p.m. at Jimmy B’s Thrift on E. Main Street. Police found a store employee suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.
Police Chief Scott Bowen said the victim told officers a black man entered the store with his face covered and demanded money.
“When the employee did not give the suspect the money fast enough, the suspect shot him,” Bowen said. “The employee gave the suspect the money and he then fled on foot.”
Bowen said officers processed the scene, collected evidence and spoke to witnesses. Wilson Emergency Management Agency paramedics took the victim to University Medical Center for treatment. His condition was unknown because his identity was not released.
Police described the suspect as a black male, 5-feet-7-inches tall and dressed all in black. Bowen said the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
On Monday, Bowen said officers were still searching for the suspect, and the case remained under investigation.
