Lebanon police arrested a suspect Monday believed to be involved in an armed robbery and shooting at a convenience store earlier this month.

Marcus DeCarlos Sweatt, 37, of Lebanon, was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.

Officers responded to an armed robbery and shooting call on Aug. 1, at Alan’s Convenience Store Market on E. Main Street. Police found a store employee suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

Police Chief Scott Bowen said the victim told officers a black man entered the store with his face covered and demanded money.

“When the employee did not give the suspect the money fast enough, the suspect shot him,” Bowen said. “The employee gave the suspect the money and he then fled on foot.”

Bowen said officers processed the scene, collected evidence and spoke to witnesses. Wilson Emergency Management Agency paramedics took the victim to University Medical Center for treatment.

Bowen said Sweatt left with an undisclosed amount of cash.
