Dolan named to Dean’s List for Spring 2014

The Citadel has announced that Cadet Ryan Dolan of Old Hickory is among the academically outstanding members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets being honored for academic achievement during the spring 2014 semester.

Dean’s List recognition is earned by those registered for 12 or more semester hours whose grade point ratio is 3.2 or higher with no grade below a C for the previous semester’s work.

Groves graduates from Maryville College

Alexander Groves of Lebanon completed requirements for a Psychology degree and graduated from Maryville College.

Approximately 200 seniors participated in commencement exercises held May 18 on the campus grounds.

Hitchcock named to Columbia State Dean’s List

John Hitchcock of Lebanon was named to the Columbia State Community College dean’s list for earning academic honors this spring.

“Being named to the dean’s list is a notable achievement,” said Dr. Margaret D. Smith, the executive vice president and provost for academic affairs and student programs and services. “We encourage and promote student success at Columbia State, and these students are a great example of what it means to be successful.”

To qualify for the dean’s list, students must earn 12 or more credit hours for the semester with a GPA of 3.50 or higher.

Pittard graduates from Butler University

Alexander Pittard, a Sociology and Criminology major and a resident of Mt. Juliet, was one of 824 Butler University students who completed degree requirements in May 2014.

Those graduating included 130 in the College of Business, 79 in the College of Education, 220 in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, 84 in the Jordan College of the Arts, 101 in the College of Communication, and 210 in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Sandoval graduates from Berry College

Rachel Sandoval of Lebanon graduated from Berry College with a BS degree in Animal Science. Berry College recently celebrated 425 new graduates at the Spring Commencement on May 10.

Sharpe graduates Carson-Newman University

Emily Sharpe of Old Hickory was among Carson-Newman University Spring 2014 graduating class. Sharpe graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Anderson awarded the APSU Presidential Scholarship

Austin Peay State University announces that Lars Anderson of Lebanon has been awarded the APSU Presidential Scholarship.

Academic scholarships to APSU are awarded for scholarly achievement, high class rank and qualifying scores on national assessment testing.

The application for admissions to APSU is the application for these awards. To receive priority consideration for these renewable scholarships, high school students should apply for admission at www.apsu.edu/apply by Nov. 15.

Felkins honored by TTU College of Arts & Sciences

Joseph Felkins, of Lebanon, was recently honored by the Tennessee Tech University College of Arts and Sciences.

Felkins, a freshman physics major, received the physics scholarship. He has been on the dean’s list. He plans to pursue a graduate degree and do research in physics after TTU. He is the son of Michael and Michelle. He is a 2013 graduate of McClain Christian Academy.

Ferron named to Spring 2014 Dean’s List at LMU

Lincoln Memorial University has announced Dean’s List for the Spring semester of 2014. Chelsea Ferron, of Mt. Juliet, was recognized for academic excellence during the spring semester. To be placed on the Dean’s List, the student must be a full-time undergraduate and have a 3.5 grade point average for the semester.
