On Dec. 15, the elders, on behalf of Commerce Cumberland Presbyterian Church, presented their pastor, the Rev. Denny C. Shepard, with an academic doctor of ministry robe honoring and recognizing his recent graduation from Newburg Theological Seminary.

A service with humor, love, and appreciation preceded the robing of the pastor and the commissioning prayer. Shown in the picture are his wife, Kay, who is an elder in the church and holds a Doctor of Education Degree, and the presiding elders of the church. The congregation can now say that they are led by two doctors. Pastor Shepard's earned degree came at the age of 71. The church is at 4260 South Commerce Road in Watertown.
