Local pastor and author Kevin Butler, of Lebanon, is set to debut his book titled “Parenting The Greats—Teaching your children to stand out in their Christianity” May 31 at the Lifeway Christian Store in Mt. Juliet.

Butler will also be signing copies of the new release from 5 to 8 p.m.

Currently, Butler is the senior pastor of Laguardo Baptist Church in Lebanon and has written for various children’s devotions and parenting magazines, including Lifeway publications.

Butler and his wife, Valerie, enjoy leading their seven children to adore their Savior, Jesus Christ and he said he feels led to teach others by sharing the experiences God has shown him though parenting and spiritual growth.

“What type of parenting will your children need in order to be great in their Christianity?  What if we are teaching our children to be great at things God never intended for them?” Butler said. “As a parent of several children, these are just some of the questions I had to ask myself.

“The answers I discovered are written in this book and may very well surprise you,” Butler said. “If you want greatness for your child, then I invite you to travel with me through this practical, humorous and understandable book and learn for yourself the answers I discovered.”

Patricia Laster, child psychologist and author, said Butler has “a hilarious and wicked sense of humor.”

“Of course, he also expresses some very profound thoughts about parenting, thoughts that I, as a child psychologist, echo,” Laster said. “In fact, I often stood up and yelled, ‘yeah!’ while reading this book.”

Robin Moore, lawyer and Beta Team Leader, added, “I am really proud of this book and excited about the changes that will happen in the lives of people because of it.”

“Kevin Butler delivers a Bible-based, in-the-trenches guide to parenting that doesn’t shy away from the truth of what God says about the process and what we as parents must do to be examples of greatness ourselves,” said author Amy Parker.
