The United Auto Workers who have been on strike at the Lebanon TRW site all week know safety rules and guidelines they are to follow.

After conflicting reports of incidents this week, including a recent report a UAW striker was hit by a tractor trailer, UAW spokesperson Kevin Huddleston said everyone knew the safety precautions they were to abide by.

“They know to make sure to not block any entrance ways of the facility,” Huddleston said. “They know not to impede anything at all.”

Huddleston said as far as he knew the striker who was struck by the tractor-trailer was not blocking any entrances or in the way.

“I was told he moved out of the way of the truck and they turned sharply anyways,” Huddleston said.

As far as a report that strikers had attempted to push a UPS truck over, Huddleston said that was untrue.

“UPS has said they will not cross the picket line,” Huddleston said. “I think in this incident the company is saying someone threatened to push a truck over, which I think didn’t happen at all.”

Huddleston said the police came after this report, but everything was smoothed over.

“This is just a peaceful protest, that’s all we’re out here to do.”
