A multi-agency exercise will take place Thursday simulating a derailment of the Music City Star.
The exercise will take place between Horn Springs Road and Old Horn Springs Road in Lebanon beginning at about 10 a.m. and lasting until about noon.
Simulation exercises of this nature are required every other year by the Federal Railroad Administration. The exercise will allow participants to evaluate current response concepts, plans and capabilities. The scenario will portray a derailment caused by an explosion in a remote location, which results in mass casualties.
The Music City Star began operation in fall 2006 and operates between Lebanon and downtown Nashville.
