United Way of Wilson County recently changed leadership at the board level installing First Freedom Bank’s senior vice president and director of commercial banking J.B. Owens.

Owens takes over as board chair for outgoing chair, Comfort Suites marketing director Connie Bullington.

“We’re very pleased to continue the level of strong leadership with J.B. at the helm,” said UWWC president John McMillin. “Under Connie’s leadership we, along with other United Way’s across the state, helped Family Resource Centers achieve funding for another term, supported 211, the hotline for help and for volunteer information and supported 32 agencies across Wilson County.”

UWWC serves Wilson County residents through the support of 32 partner agencies and home based initiatives, such as 211, two Wonder Trails for early learning and Text4baby.

“Connie did an amazing job as board chair, a task that is challenging since the role of nonprofits is changing along with the ability to raise funds,” said Owens. “I’m excited to be stepping into this role and I hope to see our United Way continue to expand services while increasing our support throughout Wilson County.”
