The Wilson County Commission is set to meet Monday at 7 p.m. at the Wilson County Courthouse, where a resolution involving funding for the proposed Veteran’s Park is up for discussion.
Previously, the Public Works and Budget committees approved $600,000 in initial funding for the park.
The $600,000 the full commission would have to approve would come from the final payment from the sale of the old Mt. Juliet Elementary School property.
The earmarked $600,000 would go toward starting the project and building the park, which could include office space for the Veteran’s Service Office, bathrooms and a pop-up tent conference area.
At the request of Commissioner Bernie Ash, the Public Works Committee then voted to ask the Budget Committee for an additional $500,000 to finish the project and build the museum, but that amount would not be voted on Monday.
Another item on the agenda is elections and appointments for the commission and different committees.
The commission would see elections or appointments for notaries, a commission chairperson, a commission chairperson pro tem, four members for the Finance Committee, four members for the Budget Committee, five members for the Ethics Committee, one member for the Water and Wastewater Authority and three members for a new Revenue Committee.
