With the search for a new Wilson Emergency Management Agency director well underway, the county is hoping to fill the position soon.
Tuesday, seven candidates for the position will be addressing the Wilson County Commission, along with any interested citizens, from 5-7:15 p.m. in the Commission Room of the Wilson County Courthouse.
Previously, county officials reviewed essay questions and resumes and narrowed the list down to 11 candidates. Those 11 then came in for a 20-minute interview, according to County Mayor Randall Hutto.
Hutto has said he hoped to have the position filled by Nov. 1.
The chosen candidate is set to replace previous Director John Jewell.
Jewell submitted his resignation Aug. 2 after having served as WEMA director for more than five and a half years.
The resignation came following a disciplinary committee review of his involvement in a wreck in June.
Jewell has continued to occupy the position and will do so until a replacement is named.
