Afternoon forecast: Clear skies for New Year’s Eve

The New Year’s Eve forecast for Tuesday night will be mostly clear and cold with a low around 25 degrees and calm wind, according to the National Weather Service.

New Year’s Day will be mostly sunny with a high near 54 degrees with calm wind from the south around 5 mph.

Wednesday night’s forecast calls for a 20-percent chance of rain after midnight. Otherwise, expect mostly cloudy skies with a low around 34 degrees with calm wind from the south-southwest around 5 mph.

Thursday morning will bring a 50-percent chance of rain and snow with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 37 degrees. Winds will be from the south-southwest at 5 mph-15 mph becoming north-northwest in the afternoon.

A 20-percent chance of snow is expected Thursday night with partly cloudy skies and a low around 22 degrees. Winds from the northwest will be at 10 mph-15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.
