A cat that became stuck in a storm drain became a rescue mission for firefighters in Mt. Juliet on Friday night.

When Oreo’s family noticed him missing on S. Rutland Road, a quick search revealed Oreo’s meowing coming from a nearby storm drain. That’s when Mt. Juliet firefighters were called in to help.

According to Mt. Juliet police spokesperson Tyler Chandler, firefighters were held upside down in the drain at times and a small amount of water was sprayed down the drain to help isolate Oreo.

Once the cat was isolated to a small section of the drain, firefighters awaited a cat carrier before he could be pulled out.

The rescue took firefighters about an hour, but Oreo was reunited with his family.
