The city of Mt. Juliet furthered its social networking efforts to reach out to the community with the creation of a new Facebook page.

The page can be found at facebook.com/mtjuliet.

“The city is committed to increasing communication and transparency with the public,” said city Manager Kenny Martin. “Facebook provides a great resource to share information and open up positive dialogue with our citizens, and our goal is to use this resource to enhance our connection with the community. “Communication has evolved, and we recognize the need to evolve with it. Facebook will allow us to enhance our communication. I encourage anyone with a Facebook to please ‘like’ our city’s new page.”

Currently, the city’s parks and recreation, police and fire departments and animal shelter use Facebook, and the effort was successful, Martin said. The city’s Facebook page will share information regarding the many other city activities that are not mentioned on the other departments’ pages.

Martin said Mt. Juliet’s Facebook followers will receive comprehensive coverage and updates on city services, development and activities while also highlighting successes and accomplishments.

Additional information will include news on infrastructure improvements, City Hall and Public Works activities, economic development, photos and information on new and upcoming businesses and restaurants.

Martin said Mt. Juliet will use a team of city employees to generate Facebook posts from all city departments. The team’s first meeting was held April 17.
