Pets of the Week for July 29, 2014
Jul 29, 2014
Emmy Lou
Lemon
Maya
Sweetie

Lemon will draw you in with her beautiful dark brown eyes. This sweet girl is a 1 year old, 20 pound, lemon and white colored Beagle. She came to New Leash on Life after being rescued by Animal Rescue Corps, along with 132 other dogs, from a puppy mill situation earlier in July. Lemon is a little shy and yet wants to get to know you at the same time. She wants to trust but considering the life she was forced to live, it’s no wonder she’s a little cautious. She loves to roll over for belly rubs and likes to be next to you or in your arms.

The staff is learning more and more about her every day. Come and meet Lemon and adopt her for $135. Lemon will be spayed, micro-chipped and current on vaccinations prior to adoption. Like all shelter pets, Lemon is waiting to meet you and hoping you’ll be the one to take her home at last! New Leash on Life policy: All dogs adopted through us are to be considered family members and must be allowed inside, especially at night.

Almost 500 days! That’s how long Emmy Lou has been in the shelter, waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting...well, you get the idea! Emmy Lou is a beautiful, round faced, 5 year old, silver and black, ticked patterned Tabby. She is shy with new people but given time, she will make a very lucky family a wonderful companion. Emmy Lou is gorgeous, sleek and independent on the outside and is one of those cats that wants attention on her terms; she does not care to be picked up but once she warms up to you, she wants head scratches and will walk out to greet you. She is independent on the outside but inside, her heart is full of love! She would be the perfect cat for someone who wants to have a cat in their home but not one that is “in your face” or under foot all the time.

We feel certain Emmy Lou will do well in a home and with patience and time, may even enjoy being picked up. She gets along with other cats but doesn’t really care much for dogs. Emmy Lou is litter box trained, spayed, micro-chipped and current on vaccinations. Thanks to a generous sponsor, you can adopt her for only $25. Emmy Lou wants you to know that if you will adopt her before she has to wait too many more days, she will love you for more days that you can even count! New Leash on Life policy: All cats must be indoor only and shall not be declawed.

Not sure if you’re ready to commit to adoption? Ask about our 7-day Sleepover Program for dogs and cats. If you already have your limit of four-legged family members, please consider becoming a ‘Guardian’ to help homeless pets each month. Doesn’t Sweetie have a beautiful face? And she has the personality to match it, too. Sweetie is about 2 years old - a happy, well-mannered girl - she gets along fine with other dogs and all visitors. Sweetie will chase cats so a cat-free home would be best. She is healthy - spayed and current on shots. Sweetie came to us heartworm positive - she has been treated and needs a re-test in a few months - the rescue will cover all these expenses. But she can go to her new home now - come to meet Sweetie, you’ll see why she has that name.

Meet Maya, the Lifesaver!  Maya is a beautiful Tortie female cat - she is friendly, calm and loving. But why is she a lifesaver? Well, after raising her own litter, when she was found abandoned with them, she then raised several more orphan kittens.  The orphans would not have survived on foster care alone - but Maya took over their nursing and nurturing - and all are doing well and getting ready for new homes.  Maya is now ready for her new home also.  She is healthy - tested feline leukemia negative, current on shots, and spayed for adoption.  She has been in the care of a very grateful foster - who will tell you how wonderful Maya is - just call Lorna 615-946-3643 to hear all about Mama Maya.

Please visit our website at countryk9.petfinder.com or find us on Facebook Country K-9 Rescue Adoptable Pets to see other available rescued pets. Our adoption fees are usually $100 for dogs and $50 for cats/kittens – all pets are fully vetted and healthy.
