Cumberland University’s Jeanette C. Rudy School of Nursing and Health Professions announced the second annual “Notes for Nurses” event will be Sept. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Lebanon Municipal Airport hangar.

The casual dress dinner and auction will include live music by award-winning artists, Paul Overstreet, Jessi Alexander and Jon Randall. Proceeds from the event will help fund nursing scholarships and high-tech simulation equipment to train students.

“Notes for Nurses is a celebration of all nurses – the heartstrings of our community,” said Beth McCall, registered nurse and event chairman. “The event raised $55,000 last year for nursing scholarships and simulation equipment, and we have set a goal of $75,000 this year.”

Table sponsorship starts at $500. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased by calling 615-547-1245 or visiting cumberland.edu/notesfornurses.

“We invite the community to join us to hear some of Nashville’s greatest songwriters,” said Dr. Teresa Larkins, committee member. “You will hear hits like I Drive Your Truck, The Climb and Forever and Ever Amen.”

Currently a traditional four-year bachelor’s of science in nursing program, a nights-and-weekend program for non-traditional students seeking a second degree and an online registered nurse to bachelor’s of science in nursing program for associates and diploma-degreed registered nurses already working in the field are offered at the school of nursing.

“Our focus is on educating and training highly skilled, compassionate and caring nurses and the additional support from our community will elevate our success in recruiting and graduating outstanding men and women,” said Dean Carole Ann Bach. Since the nursing school began in 1992, Cumberland has graduated 1,126 nursing students with a majority working in Middle Tennessee.
