DYERSBURG — The Lebanon Rotary Americans jumped to an early lead and never looked back in a 16-2 win over Fairview in the loser's bracket of the Dixie Youth o-zone state tournament Friday.
Hours later, the Rotary Nationals followed the same game plan in crushing Lewis County 19-2.
The Americans led 5-0 after one half inning of play and were never threatened as they advanced to Saturday's 10 a.m. elimination game against Lewis County.
Gaven Reasonover and Mark McDearman combined to pitch a four-inning one-hitter.
Jeremiah Hastings had three of Lebanon's 12 hits - including a triple, double and single - and drove in four runs. Cole Ferguson knocked in a pair of runs as he and Carson Boles banged out two hits apiece. Ferguson and Luke Bradshaw doubled.
The Nationals broke open a 2-1 lead with seven runs in the second inning and added five-spots in the third and fourth of the four-inning game.
They advanced to today's 5:30 p.m. winner's bracket semifinal against Greenback, which run-ruled Halls on Friday.
Logan Hawks and Bryce Miller homered for the Nationals. Riley Hines, Luke Sampson and Tarver Hayslip doubled as Lebanon compiled 18 hits.
Hawks and Ethan Chambers combined to hold Lewis County to four hits.
Lion 15s double up Franklin County in Babe Ruth state
LAWRENCEBURG — The Lebanon Lion 15s doubled up Franklin County 10-5 in the Babe Ruth state tournament on Friday.
The Lions bought a day off with the victory, but will play twice Sunday. They advanced to a 12:30 p.m. game Sunday against the winner of Friday's evening contest between Putnam County and Marshall County, with the loser playing again at 5:30 p.m. and the winner at 8.
Austin Graves pitched five innings for the win and doubled and singled at the plate. Daniel Dillard singled three times and Sam McMillan, Jakeese Turner, Bryan Engles and Peyton Bell once each. Turner and Chase Andrews each threw an inning in relief.
Lebanon 13s fall to Giles 13-9
JOHNSON CITY — Giles County scored seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to stun the Lebanon Lions 13-9 in the opening round of the Babe Ruth 13-year-old state tournament on Friday.
Giles led 3-0 until the Lions scored all nine of their runs in the fifth and sixth innings to go up 9-6.
"We battled back," Lebanon manager Dennis White said. "We didn't hit the ball well the first through the fourth, and in the fifth and sixth, we hit the cover off it."
Daven Dee went 4-for-4 for Lebanon while Connor Patrick and Andrew Harper had clutch hits.
Lebanon will return today for an 11:30 a.m. CDT elimination game against Elizabethton.
