LAWRENCEBURG — Lebanon's 15-year-old all-stars played long into the night Tuesday to finish third in the Babe Ruth state tournament.

The Lions were held to two hits in a 14-2 loss to host Lawrenceburg in the winner's bracket final, then were outscored 17-13 by Manchester in the loser's final.

Matthew Dillon's double and Jakeese Turner's single were Lebanon's only hits against Lawrenceburg.

Dillon had three singles; Turner, Daniel Dillard and Chase Andrews two each and Brian Engles and Peyton Bell one apiece against Manchester.

"There were a lot of errors in that game by both teams," Lebanon manager Johnny Torres said of the contest with Manchester. "The team that made the most errors lost, and that team was us."

The 13-year-old state tournament in Johnson City will resume Friday with Lebanon taking on Giles County in a loser's bracket game at a time to be determined.

The tournament was plagued by rain last weekend with six of the nine teams still alive in the double-elimination event.

Lebanon manager Dennis White said tournament organizers were waiting to hear from Franklin about whether that team would return to face Cookeville in the other loser's bracket game. Lawrenceburg and host Johnson City are undefeated and set to face each other in the winner's bracket final.
