LHS baseball tryouts rescheduled for Saturday
Lebanon High baseball tryouts have been rescheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Brent Foster Field. A second session will be held later that afternoon, if necessary. Athletes should come prepared to play in baseball pants and cap, with glove. A completed physical form will also be required.
Southside Middle to hold baseball tryouts
Southside Middle School will have baseball tryouts July 26 from 5-7 p.m. and July 27 from 9-11 a.m. at the baseball field. Sixth- through eighth-grade players are encouraged to attend. For tryouts, players should be dressed in proper baseball attire – baseball pants, T-shirt, hat, glove and cleats. Also, players must bring a copy of a current physical exam. Lebanon Jr. Pro Football signups underway
Signups for the City of Lebanon Junior Pro Football League are underway online at lebanoncitysports.com. An in-person signup day will be held at the Harold Dean Greer Recreation Center in Baird Park from 9-11 a.m. July 27. Pre-registration is also available before July 27 at the rec center from 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. [closed from 11 a.m.-noon] weekdays. A copy of the child's birth certificate and the $40 registration fee are required at signups. The program is for children ages 6-11 [as of Aug. 1 of this year] who live in Wilson County. Wilson United Soccer signups coming up
The Wilson United Soccer League will have signups for the fall season for recreational youth [ages 3-up], adult and select players, from 9 a.m.-noon July 27 at Byars Dowdy Elementary School, 906 Hickory Ridge Rd. Lebanon Clowns Negro League baseball team celebration
The Roy Bailey African American Museum and History Center will celebrate the legacy of the Negro League baseball players, honoring the Lebanon Clowns baseball team at 4 p.m. July 28 at Pickett-Rucker United Methodist Church. Rev. Charlie Edward McAdoo will be the guest speaker. The Chris Price Athletic Award, named in memory of a former Lebanon High two-sport athlete and Middle Tennessee State baseball player, will be presented. Admission is free, though donations would be appreciated.
Hunters Point Men's Invitational Aug. 3-4
Hunters Point's 36th annual Men's Invitational will be held Aug. 3-4. Entry fee is $110, which includes green fees for practice round and two tournament rounds [carts not included], prizes and lunch Saturday night. It will be pre-flighted.
