Watertown went the distance to beat host Middle Tennessee Christian 25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 24-26, 15-12 Monday.

Mary Holden had 12 digs, 10 blocks, an ace and a dig for Watertown while freshman Bailey Griffin added eight kills, six aces two digs and a block; Emily Gleason six digs, three digs and two aces; Brandie Hill six kills, two aces and a block; Ginny Lea four digs and two kills, Katie Dalton six kills, two digs, two aces and a block; Allison Bouton 30 digs, Victoria Foster 17 digs and Hannah Zachary 10 digs.

Watertown will travel to Clay County today before welcoming Lancaster Christian for the Tigerettes' home opener Thursday.

 

Friendship sweeps FRA

 

Two-time state Class A champion Friendship Christian opened its first season in Division II-A with a 25-16, 25-15, 25-9 win over Franklin Road Academy on Monday.

Alex Sealy notched 12 kills and Autumn Josey nine.

Madison Bryant banged out six aces, Josey four and Savannah Robinson three.

 

Lady Saints rally past Hendersonville Christian

 

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet Christian rallied from 0-2 down to edge Hendersonville Christian 17-25, 25-17, 25-23, 25-18, 15-3 in the Lady Saints' season opener Monday.

Caroline Scott finished with 15 digs, Lauren Wankel 10 kills and April Bennett two aces for the Lady Saints, who will play host to Friendship Christian in the East-Middle District opener at 4:30 p.m. today.

"It is always good to see your team come back and win," Mt. Juliet Christian coach Bridgett Bass said. "HCA is a very talented team and has a great coaching staff. Both teams really battled it out tonight."
