Small-game survey: The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency invites hunters to participate in a small-game survey that will help biologists set future seasons and bag limits on quail, rabbits, squirrels, doves and grouse.
To request a copy of the survey and instructions on where to send it after completion, visit tnwildlife.org or call the regional office (781-6622) and ask for “small game survey.”
Trap shoot: Brian Lettrich shot a near-perfect 49 to win the weekly trapshooting completion at the Cedar City Gun Club.
Lucan Green won Junior honors with a 47, Randall Pence took Senior with 41 and Jimmy Jones was high Sub-Junior with a 42.
Kerry Hale completed his certification as a trapshooting instructor and will be working with various Wilson County youth groups and organizations.
Hunter-safety reminder: The TWRA reminds residents that anyone born after Jan.1, 1969, must complete a Hunter Education Course in order to get a license.
Information about various license requirements and options is available at the TWRA website, tnwildlife.org or in the current Tennessee Hunting & Trapping Guide, available at most outdoor outlets.
Squirrel opener: Squirrel season opens Aug. 24 and there are no changes from previous seasons involving regulations. The daily bag limit is 10 squirrels of all species (fox, red, gray).
A hunting license is required, with some exceptions including land-owners. For complete details about hunting seasons and license requirements visit tnwildlife.org or consult the 2013 Tennessee Trapping & Hunting Guide, available at most outdoors outlets.
