Lady Bears blank Portland 7-0

MT. JULIET — Nikki Blais and Julia Duggan each scored twice to lift Mt. Juliet past Portland 7-0 in District 9-AAA soccer Thursday night.

Biais scored twice in the first 11 minutes off assists from Chandler Scott and Nataya Wade.

Catlin Bender broke the plane of the goal unassisted in the 27th minute and Corrine Cheatham connected in the 36th minute off an assist from Savanah Collins for a 4-0 halftime lead.

Duggan scored in the 16th second of the second half off a Riley Wendling assist and in the 17th minute off Bender's second assist. Destini Oldham capped the scoring in the 33rd minute unassisted.

Mt. Juliet had 29 shots to Portland's two. Sarah Carter collected a first-half save and Morgan Houser one in the second half.

"Our midfielders did a great job keeping the ball pushed forward which gave us multiple chances to score."

Mt. Juliet will travel to Wilson Central on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game.
