NASHVILLE -- Trousdale County continued to roll along nicely Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, added a pair of special-team safeties and held host Goodpasture to 120 total yards en route to a 21-0 win over the host Cougars in a District 8-A game.
Trousdale (5-0, 2-0) also shut out last week's opponent, Friendship Christian. The Yellow Jackets also blanked Macon County in the season opener.
Zach Blackwell got the Yellow Jackets rolling in the first quarter, scoring only little more than two minutes into the game on a 39-yard run. Blackwell had 106 rushing yards.
Kenyan Harper added a 16-yard touchdown run to culminate the Yellow Jackets' second drive of the night, giving his team a 14-0 lead.
The Yellow Jackets' defense then went to work. Seth Holder blocked a Goodpasture (2-3, 0-1) punt late in the first half, with the Cougars' punter forced to bat the ball out of the end zone for a safety.
Trousdale scored another safety in the second half when Goodpasture's punt team snapped the ball out of the end zone.
The gave the Yellow Jackets an 18-0 lead.
Christian Lauderdale finished the scoring with a 22-yard field goal on the opening snap of the fourth quarter.
Goodpasture's best chance to score actually came on the final play of the first half when the Cougars attempted -- and barely missed -- a 65-yard free kick.
Trousdale will step up in weight class next week when the Yellow Jackets host Class AAA member Gallatin. It will be the first meeting between the schools since 1969.
The game against Goodpasture was Trousdale's first since 1992.
