MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet bounced back from a loss at Lebanon on Monday to sweep visiting Wilson Central 25-14, 25-22, 25-20 Tuesday.
Brittany Wiseman led the Lady Wildcats with 21 digs, an ace, a kill and an assist while Jordan Fitzgerald finished with 16 assists, six digs, three kills and two aces; Libby Trowbridge 12 kills, three kills and two blocks; Delaney McCorkle six digs, two kills and two blocks; Amy Trice 10 assists and five digs, Cassie Bryant and Natalie Walker five kills and three digs apiece, Kristen Guethlein two digs and two kills and Leslie Corn three digs .
Mt. Juliet also won the junior-varsity match 25-18, 25-18.
Lady Devils fall in four at Portland
PORTLAND — Lebanon dropped a 22-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-10 decision at defending District 9-AAA champion Portland on Tuesday.
Alex Britt led the Lady Devils with 14 digs, 13 kills, two aces and two blocks while Kelsey Yarbrough finished with 45 blocks, nine kills and six digs; Tatum Thompson 30 assists, 10 digs and an ace; Bri Clemmons 10 kills, three digs and a block and Megan Brown 13 digs.
Lebanon won the junior-varsity match 25-21, 25-17.
Brooke Pickler, whose sister Brittany [an LHS grad] is Portland’s varsity coach, led the Lady Devils with seven digs, five kills, two assists and an ace while Erin Arnold added seven digs, four kills and two aces; Taylor Black 10 assists and six digs and Alyssa Hughes eight digs.
Lebanon will travel to Station Camp on Thursday.
Short-handed Lady Saints swept on road
HENDERSONVILLE — Short-handed Mt. Juliet Christian lost in straight sets 25-23, 25-20, 25-21 at Hendersonville Christian on Monday.
“We had two players out tonight and it made very player play out of position,” Mt. Juliet Christian coach Bridget Bass said after her Lady Saints slipped to 8-8 for the season. “I thought we played excellent considering the condition.”
Caroline Scott totaled 22 assists for the Lady Saints while Lauren Wankel spiked 10 kills and Kendra Robertson served up an ace.
Mt. Juliet Christian will travel to East-Middle District rival St. Andrew’s-Sewanee on Thursday.
