HARTSVILLE — Trousdale County's first meeting with Gallatin in 44 years proved to be memorable.  The ending might have been even more noteworthy.

The Yellow Jackets beat the visiting Green Wave, 28-27, when they blocked a Gallatin extra-point attempt with 1:14 left.

Trousdale County (6-0) didn't lead the game until Kenyan Harper's 1-yard touchdown in the middle of the fourth quarter gave the Yellow Jackets a 28-21 lead. But Gallatin struck back with a 13-yard pass from Clay Carnes to Elias Hackett.

Just when it seemed like the game might go overtime, Trousdale blocked the extra-point attempt. The Yellow Jackets recovered the kick and ran out the clock to celebrate their win.

The game went back and forth all night.

After an early Gallatin touchdown, Trousdale tied the game late in the first quarter on Harper's 13-yard touchdown catch from Marquel Claiborne. The same sequence repeated itself in the second period, with Harper scoring on a 1-yard run to tie the game at 14 heading to halftime.

Gallatin took another lead on Eric Debow's 42-yard touchdown run midway through the third quarter, and the Wave's 21-14 advantage held until Claiborne and Harper hooked up on a 16-yard scoring pass early in the fourth quarter.

Claiborne, Dillon Burnley and Harper combined to spark a rushing attack that gained 258 rushing yards and gave the Yellow Jackets a nearly- 2-to-1 edge in time of possession.

Trousdale County plays at DeKalb County next week.

Gallatin (3-2), which had scored at least 36 points in every game this season, plays host to Lebanon next week.
