GLADEVILLE — Wilson Central finally got a home game. The Wildcats celebrated in style.
Playing its first home game of the year after starting the season with five straight on the road, the Wildcats had no problem with Dickson County, cruising to a 34-3 victory.
"Defensively, we played really well. Defense and special teams came through," Wilson Central coach Brad Dedman said. "Two scores from our defense was definitely good. Definitely a good night for the Wildcats."
Wilson Central (3-3) opened the scoring when Weston Rountree intercepted a Dickson County pass and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown and a 7-0 Wildcats lead.
After Brad Cavonough's 22-yard field goal extended the margin, Dalton Graves scored on special teams off a Dickson County blocked punt to push the Wildcat lead to 17-0 at halftime.
Dickson County scored on a field goal early in the third quarter to get on the board, but Cavonough struck back with a 46-yard field goal later in the period. That made it 20-3.
Gabe Angel scored the Wildcats' lone offensive touchdown in the fourth quarter, scoring on a 20-yard touchdown run. Angel ran 14 times for 115 yards to lead the Wildcat offense.
"It took a while for the offense to get around," Dedman said.
L.J. Lytle closed the scoring, picking off another Dickson County pass and racing 47 yards for the touchdown.
Wilson Central continues its string of home games next week when the Wildcats host Station Camp.
Dickson County (0-6) will play host to Summit next week.
