MT. JULIET — Amanda Wall scored five goals and Allison Mahabir four to lead Mt. Juliet Christian past visiting Friendship Christian 12-4 in East-Middle District 1-A soccer Tuesday.
Sarah Schlosser supplied two goals and Marcella Gallione one for the Lady Saints, who led 5-2 at halftime in pulling even at 5-5 for the season and 3-2 in the district.
“I’m very proud of how well the girls played together as a team,” Mt. Juliet Christian coach Heather Anderson said. “They played their positions well and communicated with each other. It always feels good to win at home.”
Mahabir finished with five saves, Gallione and Bailey Jarrett two each and Brianna Steele one for Mt. Juliet Christian.
Olivia Gonzales picked up eight saves for the Lady Saints, who will travel to Creek Wood on Thursday for a 6 p.m. match in Charlotte.

Mt. Juliet clinches winning district record
Riley Wending’s free kick in the closing seconds of the first half was the only score in Mt. Juliet’s 1-0 win over Gallatin on Tuesday night.
Wending’s goal eight seconds before halftime was the only one of more than 30 shots to find the net while Sarah Carter had to make just five saves on the other end.
“We played at least 75 percent of the game on our offensive end of the field,” Mt. Juliet coach Ryan Hill said after his Lady Bears improved to 6-7 for the season and clinched a winning record in District 9-AAA at 4-3.
It is the first time in at least six years MJ has posted a .500-plus district mark and assures the Lady Bears will finish no lower than fourth.
Mt. Juliet lost to St. Cecilia 3-1 last Friday and to Lenoir City 7-1 on Saturday in the Ladies Championship tournament. Julia Duggan scored both Lady Bear goals, the first on an assist by Reilly Moody.
Riverdale will visit Mt. Juliet on Thursday for a 6 p.m. match. It will be Senior Night for the Lady Bears.
