GEORGETOWN, Ky. — Shauna Gilpin netted a pair of goals and Rhianne Parsons added a goal and an assist in 11th-ranked Cumberland’s 4-1 victory over Georgetown College in women’s soccer action Friday.
The Bulldogs (11-1-1) are now unbeaten in their last 10 outings and have outscored their opponents, 34-4, during that stretch. CU moved one step closer to its first-ever regular season conference championship and can do that with two more wins.
Gilpin scored on an assist from Parsons in the 21st minute, but the Tigers (6-5-1, 3-4-0) knotted the match just over a minute later when Sarah Hencke posted her fourth goal of the year on an assist from Tara Joseph.
Parsons netted her ninth goal of the year in the 29th minute, giving the Bulldogs the lead for good.
Gilpin added her second goal and team-leading 10th of the season in the 70th minute and Olivia Chu added her fifth goal of the year in the 80th minute.
Cumberland will continue its current road swing with Sunday’s match atRio Grande at noon CDT. The Bulldogs will host Bluefield on Oct. 26th in the home finale at Lindsey Donnell Stadium.
