Cumberland moved up three spots to No. 8 in the seventh regular-season edition of the NAIA women’s soccer coaches’ top 25 poll, the national office announced Tuesday.
It marks the highest ranking in school history for the program.
The Bulldogs defeated then No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson, 1-0, on Wednesday last week and also posted 4-1 and 4-0 victories at Georgetown College and Rio Grande. The club is unbeaten in its last 11 outings, outscoring opponents, 38-4, during that stretch.
Cumberland can clinch the program’s first-ever regular season conference championship Saturday with a win over Bluefield. CU will host a quarterfinal match in the Mid-South Conference Championships on Nov. 9 against an opponent yet-to-be-determined.
