HENDERSONVILLE — Led by Mark Britt’s second-place finish, Lebanon’s boys qualified for the state cross country meet by finishing third in the Region 5-AAA meet Thursday at Sanders Ferry Park.
Britt crossed the finish line in 16:10.
The Blue Devils took the third and final team spot for state with a 99. Station Camp won with 56 points, followed by Hendersonville with 82.
Mt. Juliet finished just out of the money with 118 points, good for fourth place. Wilson Central was eighth with 212.
In addition to the teams, the top-10 individuals also qualified for state. Joining the Blue Devils at the Nashville Steeplechase on Nov. 2 will be Lebanon’s Caitlyn Strickland, who finished sixth, and Wilson Central’s Taylor Blankenship, 10th, in the girls’ race.
Also in the boys’ race will be Mt. Juliet’s Colbe Earls, who finished sixth, and Wilson Central’s john Elrod, who was 10th.
Joining Britt at state will be teammates Anthony Reeves, who finished 16th in 17:50; Austin Montgomery, 23rd in 18:04; Caleb Kawasaki, 27th in 18:13; Deiontae Sullivan, 31st in 18:25; Stephen Burns, 34th in 18:28; and Cole Langford, 50th in 19:09.
Lebanon’s girls finished fourth with 124 points. Mt. Juliet was fifth with 161 and Wilson Central sixth with 198. Beech won with 38, followed by Station Camp with 53 and Rossview third with 63.
Strickland crossed the line in 20:24. Heather Allmond was 25th in 23:06, Maddie Martin 27th in 23:14, Laura-Li Flapper 32nd in 23:50, Pam Warden 34th in 23:58, Maggie Crowell 38th in 24:18 and Chol Rambang 45th in 24:49.
In the boys’ junior-varsity race, Lebanon’s Jeorge Sanchez was second in 18:49, James Jones 18th in 20:03 and Jacob Andrews 19th in 20:04. In the girls’ JV race, the Lady Devils’ Allison Garner was 10th in 24:57.
