Wilson Central to Oakland in playoff opener

Friendship to host rematch with Harding

As expected, Wilson Central drew the No. 8 seed in the No. 2 bracket and will travel to Murfreesboro to take on undefeated Oakland in the first round of the Class 6A football playoffs next Friday.

The Wildcats are 6-4 for the season, having won four of their five-game homestand over the second half of the year. The Patriots are 10-0.

Siegel [7-3] will play at Antioch [5-5] in the adjacent bracket with Central traveling to the winner should the Wildcats win.

Smyrna [6-4] will be at Blackman [8-2] while Cane Ridge [6-4] travels to Ravenwood [9-1] on the other side of the pod.

Central will not play at home, though the Wildcats would be the designated home team should they make a Cinderella run to the Dec. 7 BlueCross Bowl in Cookeville.

In Division II, Friendship Christian [8-2] will try to carry its run of two straight D-I Class 2A state titles into its new league as the Commanders play host to Harding Academy[4-6] at Pirtle Field next Friday.

It will be a rematch of the Week 0 season opener, won by the Commanders 35-6. The winner will travel to Memphis to take on St. George’s [7-3], which drew a bye by winning the West District 3-A.

Donelson Christian [8-2], First Assembly Christian School [9-1] and Battle Ground Academy [7-3] are the potential semifinal opponents.
