CLEVELAND, Tn. — Leah Fortune scored a goal and assisted on another, as Lee scored twice in the first 10 minutes in a 3-0 victory over No. 6 Cumberland in women’s soccer action Monday night.

The loss ended a 12-match unbeaten streak for the Bulldogs (13-2-1), a stretch in which the club had allowed just four total goals. It was also the final regular season match of the year for CU, which begins action in the Mid-South Conference Championships on Saturday with a 1 p.m. home match against Bluefield.

Laura Thacker netted her ninth goal of the year in the fifth minute off a corner kick from Fortune for the NCAA Division II Flames (12-3-1) and Summer Lanter posted her 12th goal of the season unassisted in the 10th minute for an early 2-0 edge for the home team. Cumberland and Lee each took 12 shots in the first half, with three of CU’s on frame.

Fortune recorded her 10th goal of the year on an assist from Ode Fulutudilu in the 75th minute, putting the game away for the Flames, which outshot CU 8-1 in the second period.

Cumberland keeper Lindsay Kitson registered a pair of saves, while Lee’s Haley Gribler posted four saves in her sixth shutout of the season.
