MURFREESBORO — Wilson Central was shut out in its final game of 2013 41-0 to Oakland at Ray Hughes Stadium in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs.

Oakland opened with the football and the Wildcat defense

was ready they forced a three and out with two sacks.

Back to punt, Oakland kicked it out of bounds but a flag was thrown for roughing the kicker on the Wildcats, giving Oakland a first down at the 27-yard line.

The next play, Fred Wade burst through the line and raced 73 yards for a touchdown that put Oakland up 6-0 less than

90 seconds into the game.

"We played well defensively the first series, but the big play took the wind out of our sails," Wildcat coach Brad Dedman said after Central said so long to a 6-5 season.

Late in the first quarter, Wade scored again, this time from

5 yards out. It was the second of four scores on the night for Wade and made the score 13-0.

Oakland scored once more before halftime. Another Wade

Run, this one from 10 yards out, gave the Patriots a commanding 20-0 lead at intermission.

Wilson Central could not get anything going offensively, finishing with only 95 total yards and seven first downs.

Wilson Central began with the football to start the third quarter but fumbled on the second play and Oakland recovered at the Wildcat 19-yard line.

On the next play quarterback Rhett Stacey found Kyle Oliver from19 yards out and with 23 seconds off the clock in the second half it was 27-0. It was the first of two touchdown catches for Oliver in the third quarter.

Oakland scored twice more in the third. The first score was a 23-yard pass from Stacey to Oliver.

The second score came on a 58-yard run from Wade for the final margin.

Oakland improved to 11-0 and will play host to neighboring rival Siegel, a 54-14 winner over Antioch, next Friday in the second round of the playoffs.
