Cumberland’s Devin Rickard was named an NAIA Scholar-Athlete on Friday, as announced by the national office before the national championships this weekend in Lawrence, Kan.
Rickard, a junior from Maryville, carries a 3.68 grade-point-average in Biology. A total of 224 men’s and 295 women’s cross country athletes from around the nation were honored with the award.
To be eligible for the NAIA Scholar-Athlete award, student-athletes must be a junior or senior academically and maintain a 3.50 or above GPA.
Campbellsville (1), University of the Cumberlands (1), Georgetown College (3), Lindsey Wilson (1), Shawnee State (3) all had men’s athletes recognized, while Campbellsville, Cumberlands (2), Georgetown (2), Lindsey Wilson (2), Rio Grande (1) and Shawnee State (2) had women’s athletes honored.
