MADISON — Mt. Juliet Christian’s boys rolled to a 64-44 win at Madison Academy on Monday night.
The Saints led 18-6 following the first quarter and 39-16 at halftime as they improved to 5-3.
Zack Jones powered in 18 points from the post for Mt. Juliet Christian while Justus Willis fired in four three-pointers on his way to 14 and fellow guard Wyatt Oberg added 10. Newman Ward and Gilbert Russ each added eight, Nathan Green four, Landon Boyd a three and Drew Headrick a free throw.
No one from Madison Academy reached double figures in points.
Mt. Juliet Christian will travel to Murfreesboro tonight to take on Providence Christian.
Blue Devils bounce back to beat Livingston
Lebanon’s boys bounced back from their first loss of the season to finish out the Modern Woodmen Thanksgiving Classic with a 62-47 victory over Livingston Academy on Saturday at Campbell Brandon Gym/Hester Gibbs Court.
The Blue Devils darted to a 14-8 first-quarter lead, were up 30-24 at halftime and 44-40 through three before finishing off the Wildcats with an 18-7 fourth as Lebanon improved to 3-1.
Big man Corvelle Huddleston tossed in 21 points for Lebanon. DaShawn McMurry made three 3-pointers on his way to 17 while fellow guard Eddie McDaniels dropped in 13. KeShawn Abston finished with five points and six rebounds while Kadarian Garnett threw in three points. Jemel Officer passed for five assists while tallying two points while Dawson Hamilton hit a free throw.
Wade Eldridge led Livingston with 23 points and eight rebounds.
Lebanon will travel to LaVergne tonight.
Wildcats roar past Oakland
MURFREESBORO — A day after opening its season with a loss, Wilson Central roared back with a vengeance Saturday with a 59-46 thumping of Oakland in the Venture Express Classic at Siegel.
The Wildcats roared to an 18-8 first-quarter lead, were up 30-19 at halftime and 45-32 going into the fourth.
Big man Ben Palmer’s 16 points and nine rebounds led Central while guard Jaob Williams fired in 15 points and Matthew Hall eight. Jon Rosshirt racked up five assists to go with seven points. Deante Miller finished with five points, A.J. Franklin four and Casey Brandon and Cortez Owens two each.
Central will travel to Cookeville tonight.
Bears fall in LaVergne final
LAVERGNE — Mt. Juliet’s boys were no match for Brentwood in the LaVergne Thanksgiving Tournament final, losing 65-52 Saturday.
The Bruins built an 18-9 first-quarter lead, a 36-21 halftime advantage and a 50-33 cushion before the Golden Bears closed with a 19-15 fourth as Mt. Juliet fell to 2-4.
Andy Schumpert poured in 26 points for Brentwood. Jalen Lawson threw in three three-pointers on his way to 11 while Grant Teichmann totaled 10.
Reagan Johnson led Mt. Juliet with 25 points while Nolan Chowbay fired in 15 as each hit a pair of threes. Daniel Schroder added eight and Austin Brown and Nick Sadler two each.
Mt. Juliet will be at home tonight to take on Riverdale.
