Hunters data requested: The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is asking hunters to participate in a harvest survey for rabbits, quail and grouse.

The agency provides pre-paid postage cards to anyone willing to participate. Hunters can complete the survey on the card -- when and where they hunted and the results of their hunts -- and return the cards to the TWRA.

Biologists use the information in studying game populations and hunter success, and in planning future seasons and regulations.

To receive a survey card send a letter to Avid Hunter Survey, Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, P.O. Box 40747, Nashville, Tn. 37204; or e-mail Roger.Applegate@state.tn.us

Life jacket warning: Winter sauger fishing is at hand, with some of the prime fishing in swift tail-waters below dams, and fishermen are reminded that life jackets must be worn at all times when entering such areas.

It's advisable to wear a life jacket anytime the boat is moving. The same applies to duck hunters on their way to and from blinds on the water.

Falling overboard anytime is dangerous, but particularly so in cold weather when bulky clothing and freezing water impair efforts to swim.
