Cumberland softball coach Heather Stanfill announced the signing of Tampa, Fla., native Brittany Rasmussen to scholarship papers this week for the 2015 season.

Rasmussen has earned four letters for coach Colleen Sanders at Steinbrenner High School in Lutz, Fla. She has also lettered one year in golf for the Warriors and is a member of the National Honor Society, BETA Club, Indian Culture Appreciation Club and Senior Class Club. She is the daughter of Butch Rasmussen and Michelle Rasmussen.

Rasmussen joins White County product Kristen Abell and Smith County’s Brianna Gregory in this year’s recruiting class.

Celina native Strode signs with CU golf

Cumberland golf coach Rich Williams announced the signing of Celina native Savanna Strode this week to scholarship papers for the 2014-15 academic year.

Strode was a four-year letterwinner for coaches Amy Dodson and Doug Strong at Clay County High School, placing second at the district tournament as a senior and third as a junior. The Bulldogs won team championships at the district tournament each of the last two seasons.

She won the 2013 Upper Cumberland Golf Championship and has been involved in a host of Tennessee Golf Association Junior events, winning several medals. Strode is a 4.0 student and ranks in the top 5 of her class at CCHS.

She was voted Most Studious and is the treasurer of the BETA club. She is the daughter of Donnie and Chastity Strode.

Strode joins Macon County’s Kaitlin Cartwright and Milan product Morgan Stuckey in this year’s recruiting class.
