LENOIR CITY — Lebanon’s boys continued their best start in at least five years Saturday by winning the Lenoir City Christmas Tournament via a 62-55 victory over McMinn Central.

The Blue Devils led 21-14 in the first quarter before falling behind 30-28 by halftime. But Lebanon seized control with a 19-6 third period for a 47-36 lead as LHS moved to 10-2 going into the New Year.

DaShawn McMurry fired in four three-pointers and sank all seven of his free throws in leading Lebanon with 25 points while big man Corvell Huddleston added 11. Kadarian Garnett took down 12 rebounds to go with nine points while Mickell Taylor scored six, Jemel Officer five and Dawson Hamilton and KeShawn Abston three each.

Josh Scudder scored 14 points, Skylar Farrar 13 [including three 3s] and Denazell Boyd 10 for McMinn Central.

The Blue Devils will get another chance to see where they stack up against District 9-AAA competition Friday when they travel to Station Camp.

Williams scores 33 as Central takes Nera White for second straight crown

LAFAYETTE — Wilson Central would love to do this in February and March, but the Wildcats won their second tournament in as many weeks Saturday with a 77-57 victory over Obion County in the Nera White tourney at Macon County.

The ‘Cats, who won the Heritage title seven days earlier, led 27-12 in the first quarter, 43-22 at halftime and 60-35 through three as they enter the New Year 9-3.

Jacob Williams wrapped up a hot week with 33 points, including five three-pointers and 8-of-9 from the free-throw line. Big man Ben Palmer posted 18 pionts and six rebounds while point guard Jon Rosshirt racked up 11 points and eight assists.

Deante Miller supplied six points, A.J. Franklin five and Thomas Sieber four.

Central will resume District 9-AAA action Friday night at Gallatin.

Friendship falls to Columbia Academy

COLUMBIA — Columbia Academy kept Friendship Christian’s boys winless going into the New Year with an 84-52 verdict Saturday in the CA Christmas Classic.

The Bulldogs led 27-11 following the first quarter, 44-31 at halftime and 69-44 through three as Friendship fell to 0-8.

Jackson Cary connected on a pair of three-pointers in leading Columbia Academy with 22 points while Hunter Cary canned three triples on his way to 19. Andrew Golden added 11.

Zach Blair scored 17 points, including a pair of threes, for Friendship while Mackey Bentley supplied seven, Colton Gaines and Andrew Wood six each, Gregory Elliott five, Brady Stovall five, Hayden White three and Tyler Alverson and Michael Hawks two each.

Friendship will return to action next Tuesday at Centennial. The girls will tip off at 6 p.m.
