Winterize boats: The National Boating Industry reminds outdoorsmen that some of the worst of the winter are coming, and it's not too late to winterize boats or to re-check boats that were winterized earlier.
It recommends filling gas tanks completely and adding an approved winterizer to eliminate moisture inside the tank and fuel lines.
Also, keep batteries charged. If allowed to fully discharge, the batteries' life will be shortened.
Lubricate snaps and zippers, and if boats are left outdoors periodically check covers to make sure they are secure to keep out rain and snow.
For newer models, check with the dealership for detailed advice on any special care that should be taken to avoid expensive repairs later on.
