Ken Whisenhunt, shown while coaching the Arizona Cardinals, has been hired as the Tennessee Titans head coach, team CEO Tommy Smith confirmed Monday night. The San Diego Chargers offensive coordinator since being fired by the Cardinals a year ago, Whisenhunt replaces the fired Mike Munchak with the Titans. Whisenhunt, who got his start in Nashville as tight ends coach [where he worked with former Lebanon High star Elliott Carson] on Rod Dowhower’s staff at Vanderbilt in the mid-1990s, coached the Cardinals to Super Bowl XLIII, where they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He posted a 45-51 record in six seasons with Arizona, including two playoff appearances. Whisenhunt, 51, will be introduced at a news conference today.
