Cumberland softball coach Heather Stanfill announced the signing of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif, native Vienna Benavides to scholarship papers this week for the 2015 season.

Benavides is the fourth signee for the Bulldogs for next season.

She spent two years at Rancho Cucamonga High School, earning team MVP honors and running cross country and track, before transferring to Bonita High School in LaVerne, Calif.

As a junior Benavides earned second team all-league honors, leading the league in batting average, steals and on-base percentage. She was named honorable mention all-league by the Daily Bulletin while batting .562 with a .596 OBP and 16 stolen bases in 18 contests.

Benavides also garnered Academic All-League and Team Scholar-Athlete awards last season for coach Ken Carlson. She is the daughter of Nathan Benavides and Yvette Gonzalez.

Brittany Rasmussen joins White County product Kristen Abell and Smith County’s Brianna Gregory in this year’s recruiting class.
