Wilson Central’s girls will return to the TSSAA state bowling tournament following a 22-5 sectional win over Centennial.
It will be the seventh trip to state in 13 years of the tournament. This is also the 13th year Wilson Central has been open.
The tournament will run Thursday through Saturday at the Smyrna Bowling Center.
The eight teams which advanced to state will bowl at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in a Baker-scoring round for seeding, then roll in the quarterfinals at 11 a.m. Friday, followed by the semifinals at 4 p.m. The finals will roll off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday and, for the first time, will be live-streamed on the TSSAA Network.
Central’s boys, which joined the girls in sweeping the 2010 state championships, lost in the region tournament last week to Upperman, which advanced to Smyrna.
But two Wildcats have advanced as individuals to the state and, joining four Lady Wildcats, will bowl at 8:30 a.m. Thursday. They are seniors Kyle Hubbuch and Mike Murrell.
Lady Wildcats who advanced as individuals are seniors Nicole Bailey and Lacy Denson, junior Meghan Wofford and sophomore Rickie Denson. They will join teammates Dezarie Weller, Samantha Boudreaux, Michelle Boudreaux, Kayla Hubbuch and Savanna Armistead.
Joining Central at Smyrna will be Friendship Christian, which qualified for state for the first time ever and will compete in the Division II event. Central will bowl in the D-I tournament.
