MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet Middle’s girls easily cruised to a victory Tuesday night, downing Rock Springs 43-13 at Tommy Martin Gym.
The Lady Bears took the lead early and didn’t look back, outscoring Rock Springs 17-4 in the first quarter and extending their lead to 27-8 at the half.
Kathryn Bean put up 13 points to lead the Lady Bears, who moved to 12-5 on the season. Manako Woods also contributed 11 points with Sydney Throneberry posting 10 followed by Julia Maki with nine. Madison Hardy also added two points.
The Lady Bears stayed strong in the third quarter by continuing to outscore Rock Springs 39-11 before finally putting the game away in the fourth quarter and coming up with the 43-13 win.
Coach Rick Johnson said the team has come a long way since they previously faced Rock Springs in December where the Lady Bears barely inched out a four-point victory.
“The kids came out and really played well tonight, I’m proud of them,” Johnson said.
The Lady Bears will travel to Winfree Bryant on Thursday for their next game set for 6 p.m. The girl’s junior-varsity team is also set to tip-off at 4:15 p.m.
