GLADEVILLE — Wilson Central repeated as region wrestling champions Thursday night.

The Wildcats were awarded a forfeit win over Beech to take the Region 7 championship. Central had beaten the Buccaneers in four previous matches this season.

Central, which won Region 5 last year before being moved to a different league, whipped West Creek 61-15 in the semifinals as the Wildcats punched their third straight trip to the state duals tournament. Beech also advanced by beating Clarksville in the other semi.

“I am proud of the wrestlers in this program who were able to make the move to a new region and dominate the way that they did,” Wildcats coach John Kramer said. “This group is a testimony to what dedication and hard work can do for you.”

Central will compete in the state duals tournament at the Williamson County Agricultural Exposition Center in Franklin beginning next Friday.

MJ freshmen finish third in Grand Championships

Mt. Juliet’s freshmen wrestlers finished third in the Middle Tennessee Grand Championships last weekend.

Three Golden Bears won championships, another finished second and yet another took third.

The junior-varsity picked up two runners-up in the Region 7 tournament.

Would have been nice if the local Lebanon paper could have included that Lebanon High School Wrestlers were at the same freshman championship as MJ. Sean Sesnan placed first while Austin Reynolds, Jackson Grey(170), and JW Baird (220) placed second. There is more going on than just the west part of the county.

The reason Lebanon wrestling is probably not getting any press is not the fault of the sports writers. The Coach over there is probably not sending in results to the sports writers. Its the coaches responsibility and job to send in results if the team wants to be in the paper.
