Cumberland director of athletics Ron Pavan announced the 2014 football schedule this week, which includes five home games at Nokes-Lasater Field beginning with the season opener against the University of the Cumberlands on Sept. 6.
Second-year head coach Donnie Suber and the Bulldogs will also take on Belhaven at home on Sept. 20 before hitting the road for four straight weeks. CU will return home Oct. 25 versus Campbellsville and play three of its final four games in Lebanon, including tilts against Reinhardt on Nov. 8 and Alderson Broaddus in the regular season finale on Nov. 15.
Cumberland will travel to UT-Martin on Thursday, Sept. 11 for its only non-NAIA contest of the season. The Bulldogs will face Bluefield (Sept. 27) Pikeville (Oct. 4), Union College (Oct. 11) and Faulkner (Oct. 18) during the four-game road swing at the end of September through most of October and also head to long-time rival Bethel on Nov. 1.
Cumberland posted a 7-4 mark in 2013, registering a 4-1 mark at Nokes-Lasater, the club’s fourth straight season of at least seven victories. The Bulldogs have compiled a 30-12 record over the last four years, the best among the 17 football-playing colleges and universities in the state of Tennessee.
