Host Bulldogs fail to qualify for event on home floor

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Mid-South Conference officials announced the 2014 MSC Men's Basketball Tournament bracket tonight following Saturday's regular season finales.

The conference tournament begins on Thursday, March 6, with four quarterfinal games at the Dallas Floyd Recreation Center on the Cumberland campus in Lebanon. The tournament continues on Saturday, March 2 with the semifinals and concludes on Sunday with the championship game.

The host Bulldogs did not make the cut, having finished the regular season out of the top-eight needed to qualify for the second straight season, despite closing the season with two straight victories.

MSC regular season champions and top-seeded Pikeville (Ky.) (27-2, 17-1 in the MSC) opens the tournament at 2 p.m. CT on Thursday against eighth-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) (16-14, 7-11).

The tournament’s fourth seed St. Catharine (Ky.) (17-11, 10-8) faces fifth-seeded Rio Grande (Ohio) (16-13, 9-9) at 4 p.m. CT.

The third quarterfinal game of the day features second-seeded Georgetown (Ky.) (20-9, 11-7) and No. 7-seed Bluefield (Va.) (15-11, 8-10). Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT

The nightcap includes No. 3-seed Cumberlands (Ky.) (18-10, 10-8) and No. 6-seed Campbellsville (Ky.) (14-14, 9-9) at 8 p.m. CT.

The tournament's semifinals are scheduled for 2 p.m. CT and 4 p.m. CT on Saturday with the finals set for 1 p.m. CT on Sunday.
