Cumberland's Allen earns final Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Cumberland senior TaCouya Allen is the Mid-South Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, conference officials announced on Monday.

The weekly award is the first this season for Allen.

Allen averaged a double-double in two games last week to close out her career. Allen averaged 26.5 points and 13 rebounds last week as the Bulldogs dropped a close game with Shawnee State (Ohio) and beat Rio Grande (Ohio) at home.

The Anniston, Ala., guard scored 20 points and pulled down 13 rebounds in the Bulldogs’ 77-74 loss to Shawnee State. Allen connected on seven of her 15 shots during the game, including shooting 3-for-5 from beyond the 3-point arc.

On Saturday, Allen produced a career-high 33 points while grabbing 13 rebounds in an 84-66 win over Rio Grande. She added five assists and three steals in the win while making 11-of-14 shots from the field.

For the week, Allen shot 62.1 percent (18-of-29) from the field, including 60 percent (6-of-10) from 3-point range. She also averaged 3.5 assists and 2.5 steals in her two games.

Allen ranks 13th in the Mid-South in scoring this season with a 13.8 points per game average. She is fifth in the conference in rebounding (8.1) and sixth in double-doubles (5).

Cumberland concluded its season with a 10-16 overall record and 6-12 in the Mid-South.
