Cumberland’s baseball schedule has been altered for the rest of the week, with today’s game against Bryan canceled as well as Wednesday’s contest at Bethel.
The Bulldogs will now play a doubleheader on Wednesday at home versus Mid-Continent beginning at 12:30 p.m.
The Bulldogs and Cougars were originally scheduled for a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Monday at Ernest L. Stockton Field-Woody Hunt Stadium, but with forecasts calling for sleet and ice and possibly snow and daytime temperatures forecasted for at or below the freezing mark, the games were postponed on Sunday.
The inclement weather on Monday and forecasted temperatures in the teens on Monday night caused the cancellation of Tuesday’s game against Bryan and the precipitation made Bethel’s field unplayable, causing Wednesday’s cancellation.
Cumberland, ranked 10th nationally, won 2 of 3 games at 23rd-ranked Georgetown College over the weekend to begin Mid-South Conference play. The Bulldogs, 11-5 overall, have won nine of their last 12 games overall. CU will play host to Shawnee State in an MSC weekend series on Friday and Saturday at home as well.
