MJ Middle beats West Wilson

MT. JULIET — Mt. Juliet Middle opened its softball season Thursday with a 13-3 thumping of host West Wilson on the Lady Wildcats’ campus.

The Lady Bears led 6-2 before really breaking it open with seven scores in the fifth inning.

Lauren Frazier hit a three-run homer over the center-field fence in the first inning. Sydney McCormick drove in three more runs as she, Kyli Biggs and Kailey Brimm each banged out three of Mt. Juliet’s 18 hits.

Biggs struck out five in as many innings for the win. She and the bullpen allowed four hits.

Kenzy Meador doubled home a West Wilson run in the third inning and Jose Hancock hit an RBI triple in the sixth.

Both teams will compete in the East Robertson Tournament on Saturday.
