Tomlinson tosses perfecto in Tigerettes opener

WATERTOWN — Watertown opened its final softball season at Three Forks Park with a 15-0 whipping of Lancaster Christian in three innings Monday.

Senior Tiffany Tomlinson tossed a perfect game, striking out eight of the nine Lady Knights who came to the plate.

Watertown scored five times in the first inning, three in the second and seven in the third.

Freshman Bailey Griffin drove in three runs on two hits, including a walk-off two-run triple in the third.. Leanna Warren and Emily Gleason each had an RBI single. Shelby Hamlet had two hits and Mallory Josey one.

Watertown will visit Lebanon on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. game. In the meantime, the Lady Devils will open their season at 5 p.m. today at home against Trousdale County as John LaFevor makes his head-coaching debut.

LaFevor was an assistant under April Harris last season. After Harris stepped down, Monica Braswell was hired from Macon County as coach, but only as a part-time employee. She soon left for a fulltime position in another county and LaFevor was promoted to head coach.
